Peter Dahlman – DevOps Engineer

Inside Nion

I enjoy working at Nion because my vision, values and outlook on how we do business and deliver value for our clients are aligned.

Meet Peter Dahlman, a DevOps Engineer from our Gothenburg office.
Peter wears many hats—he’s a system architect, developer, programmer, technician, and creator. Or, as he puts it, a person of many roles. He joined us with 11 years of extensive experience, and in the 1 year he’s been with Nion, he has proven to be a real asset to the team. Read more about his journey and experience.

Tell us more about being an IT Consultant. What does it mean to you personally?

The possibility of variation, different assignments, different customers, different environments. This enables growth on several planes. As a consultant you also present yourself in a different way to a customer, acting in a more professional and courteous manner while striving to create value for the customer, not only showing up and putting in the required hours.

What’s your favorite thing about your workplace?

For me it’s important to not only have interesting assignments as a consultant, but also to have great colleagues around me within the company. This is what brought me to Nion, the amazing people and the support you get from your colleagues and the company. Having the opportunity to grow, learn new things and being part of a company that cares means a lot to me. So in having the same vision, values and outlook on how to do business and deliver value for our customers and clients, Nion is simply a good fit.

Has your role evolved over the years and if yes, how?

So far I have had the same role as DevOps engineer in my first year at Nion. The assignment  has evolved a bit with more areas to cover and going into more of a SME, Subject Matter Expert, role within the customers organization.

Do you have any unique problem-solving process that really makes an impact for our clients?

My ability for problem solving starts with properly understanding the problem and from there split it up into manageable steps that one then can take on one at a time. Solving the issue with patience and precision.

Any part of your experience you feel is relevant to share with our network?

I am also part of the competence team within the DevOps area at Nion. The competence team are a group of consultants with specific competences, in my case DevOps, that have high insight in what competence and skills are needed in the market, what our consultant should learn and develop within their specific area, as well as what is coming in the future.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I spend my spare time on smaller code projects, for example home automation and I’m also interested in martial arts. When not at the computer I also enjoy being creative with materials like leather, metal and textile that can for example be turned into a key case, comb holder or whatever it is that I feel I need.

Anything you’d like to share with our audience, future Nionits, or potential clients?

We are on an exciting journey with Nion, and I look forward to seeing this amazing gang develop the company further!
